Outside of Rooms is a garden

Construction for the Tena Adam Hotel began in 2007 and finished two years later in 2009.

Now finished, the hotel features 10 rooms.
Each room has a window, a bed for two people, warm blankets, a power socket and a locking door.

In front of the hotel there is a nice garden with apple trees, coffee plants, onion, cabbage, banana, grapes and roses.

Our hotel is one of the only hotels in all of Ethiopia that has the same rate for foreigners as local visitors.
Regardless of your nationality, ethnicity or origin, the room rate is the same.

The current rate (April-2012) is 30Birr (a little less than $2 USD) per night per room. The rooms can accommodate up to two people.

Also within the hotel there is a shared shower and bathroom house that has three showers and three toilets.

Within our hotel we also serve coffee, tea and cold drinks for reasonable price at an attached bar/coffee house.

Welcome to Lalibela, home of the famous UNESCO World Heritage site complex of 12th century rock-hewn churches.
Here you will discover a connection to the traditions of the Ethiopian Orthodox Christian faith.

Bete Medhane Alem, a church within the complex is believed to be the largest monolithic church in the world.
You can enjoy your time walking around and exploring the vast church complex.
Lalibela has a local population of about 14,000 people and is situated at 2,500 meters above sea level.

From the Tena Adam Hotel, depending on your walking speed, you can walk ten to twenty minutes to visit the church complex.

Getting here:

Our hotel is located about two kilometers from the center of Lalibela in the “America” district also known as “Werek Dingay.” The hotel shares a wall with the Lalibela bus station.

By Plane:

When you land at the airport you will find many minibuses heading to larger hotels in the center of Lalibela.
Ask any of them to give you a ride to the Lalibela bus station.
You will reach the hotel before you reach the center of town.
The price should be between 70 and 80 Birr (as of 2012).

If you contact me in advance I can send someone to the airport to meet you.
From the airport to our hotel the ride takes about 30 minutes in minivan.

Coming from the airport, ask the driver to drop you off at the Lalibela bus station in the “America” district.

By Bus:

If you are coming by bus, the last stop is in the bus station, which is directly next to our hotel.
By the bus you will pass by the center of Lalibela and likely most of the passengers will get off the bus.
Don’t worry, our place is just next to the final stop of the bus.

With your own wheels:

If you are arriving by your own means of transportation, please look at the map from Google Earth below.
Tena Adam hotel is about 2km to the east of Lalibela center on the road to the airport.
The road descends from Lalibela and from the road you can see the fence surrounding the bus station.
You will see the giant bus station and we are directly west of the bus station.
